Description
The name comes from the vineyards that surround the Pieve di San Marcellino situated in the Chianti hills. Produced from organic farming by the Rocca di Montegrossi company, whose owner, Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi, descendant of a historic Florentine family, is located near Gaiole in Chianti. Maturing in barriques takes place over 24 months; it is then bottled without filtration and then aged in the bottle for 24 months. A brilliant ruby red, it has prominent fruity raspberry and spicy notes. It has an outstanding body and is decidedly tannic. It is long-lasting on the palate. An excellent accompaniment to Tuscan cuisine.
